Czech Floorball is to host the next World Floorball Championships in December 2018. Today, it has unveiled the visual identity that features a trajectory of floorball’s typical perforated ball. The trajectory selections is not random as it depicts some important goals from the past. The identity was designed in cooperation with local studio Dynamo design and overseen by Alan Zaruba, creative director of Nova TV.
Starting in December 2018, Men’s World Floorball Championships (WFC) is shaping up to be a big event. Last week, Czech Floorball presented its new Men’s national team coach. Petri Kettunen from Finland is the first foreign head coach in the history of Czech Floorball. As for the venues, it has been decided that the games will be played in Prague mostly at the O2 arena which is the traditional venue for the Czech Superfinal.
The organizers also unveiled the identity of the World Floorball Championships:
-
It might seem we’re a little ahead with this but as a matter of fact,
we started communicating the event already last December during the WFC
in Riga. For us there’s no time to lose. The identity is always a sort
of a milestone as it gives a face to the championships, adds Filip Šuman, the president of Czech Floorball.
-
The emblem design reflects the story-telling power of the ball. It
helps us to recognize some big moments of the past World Championships.
Moreover, it is designed to be flexible and easy to be transformed to
different national colors. Our first set of visuals brings back memories
of the last Czech medal at the WFC. We can see the story of Matej
Jendrisak’s (photo on the right) decider against Switzerland in
Gothenburg 2014, explains Tomáš Janča, member of the WFC 2018 organizing committee responsible for marketing and communication.
The
WFC 2018 visual identity is another fruit of successful cooperation
between Czech Floorball and local studio Dynamo design. Two years ago,
it yielded highly acclaimed, both locally and internationally,
rebranding of Czech Floorball:
- We have a strong and
professional partner in Dynamo design. They understand floorball and
they’re always a pleasure to work with. Unlike the Czech Floorbal
rebranding, we decided to take a bit more conservative route and use a
more traditional symbol – a floorball ball. Our goal was to make the
identity easy to identify, yet at the same time we wanted to inject some
dynamics and story-telling potential into it, says Šuman.
-Our aim was to create something that would be unique and at the same time easy to recognise. The color palette accentuates traditional Czech blue which should elicit positive emotions especially when applied to some historic moment from the past. We believe fans will find the presented identity fresh and entertaining and hopefully it will also appeal to people who don’t follow floorball yet, conclude the creators from Dynamo design.
Czech national team coach Petri Kettunen has his eyes already set on December 2018:
-
World championships next year is one of the biggest challenges of my
career as a coach. I´m happy that the event already got its identity.
Speaking on behalf of the team, I can promise we will do our best to
deliver another deciding goal that will be remembered just like the
Matej Jendrisak´s goal from the WFC 2014.
