WFC 2018 Team presentations - Group A – 22.11.2018


16 teams will play in the 12th Men´s World Floorball Championships in Prague. The teams are divided into four groups. In the group stage each team faces each other once, while the second stage of the event includes play-offs and placement matches.

The two best teams of group A and B go directly to the quarter-finals. Teams placed 3rd and 4th in group A and B and the teams placed 1st and 2nd in group C and D make it to the first playoff round (played before the quarter-finals).

 

TEAM PRESENTATIONS - GROUP A

 

CZECH REPUBLIC

The goal at WFC 2018 in Prague is to enjoy the home audience and to as competitive as possible to beat any nation in the world. It will be a huge event and we want to show our best to our spectators.

Players to watch: 

Matěj Jendrišák
Captain and the leader in the team. One of the best centers in the world nowadays. Big figure in the team.

Marek Beneš
Young guy who can show really nice actions during the matches. Fast sniper who can score a lot of goals.

Ondřej Němeček
Cool guy with very good floorball skills. Plays for Linköping in the Swedish Superleague and he is not one of the players who becomes nervous in big matches.

 

SWITZERLAND

A dynamic and highly competitive team with a visible identity and hungry players, that has changed the floorball world´s perception of Switzerland as a floorball nation. The team can play varied style of floorball, based on a clear structure. During the WFC, Switzerland will strive for the maximum performance from each player and staff member.

Players to watch: 

Tim Braillard
Always the engine of his line, Braillard is a box-to-box player, who serves a big purpose all over the court. His working capacity is huge, his vision is brilliant.

Manuel Maurer
Works really hard without the ball, scores goals with it. Maurer is a productive player with a sense for finding ways to put the ball in the net. Watch him to occupy the team´s defense system on his own.

Matthias Hofbauer
Proving that age is just a number, Hofbauer is still quick on short distances, and his vision is a second to none. A playmaker who also can score on his own with strong one-on-one moves.

 

LATVIA

The Latvian national team has started a new chapter in its history. A team that has been known for its tough, physical defense and good counter-attacks wants to add well organised offensive game to their list of strengths. The process is moving forward and in the Qualification tournament team Latvia showed real promise. Now the team is ready to take the next step and show that it can play beautiful floorball on the biggest stage at WFC 2018.

Players to watch:

Rolands Kovalevskis
Very skillful and dangerous player in the offensive zone who works hard on defense as well.

Artis Raitums
The team´s captain who is a great leader inside and outside the rink. He always finds the right solutions on the field playing with and without the ball.

 

GERMANY

A good balanced team with young and some experienced players will successfully continue the #roadtoprague. We are looking forward to the highlight games in the O2-Arena in Prague!

Players to watch: 

Tino von Pritzbuer 
Great skills and good winning attitude. Fast with the ball, amazing moves and shots.

Mike Dietz
He is also known as "the wall". Mike is experienced and very strong goalkeeper.

Mathias Siede
Matze is the engine in the defense. In addition he has a well prepared scorer instinct.
