Poland Gets First Two Points after Tough Battle against Thailand – 01.12.2018

The last game of the day was played by the teams of Poland and Thailand. A balanced match was expected because of their last head-to-head encounter in Riga, where Poland won 5-4. The expectations became reality, but thanks to two goals in two seconds Poland were the happier side after the match.

The very loud fans, who were cheering both for Thailand and Poland, saw the first goal in the third minute. Filip Lukaszewski was in the right place to open the score from a great rebound. The Thais were very creative, more than their opponents, but they couldn’t make that final pass to tie the score.

The start of the second period wasn’t that fast but still equally aggressive. Both teams showed good defense and the score changed only after ten minutes. And twice. The difference between the second and third polish goals was just two seconds. On the other side of the rink, a lot of counter-attacks were caught by the goalie Bogdanski and a power-play didn’t change the Thai zero on the scoreboard either.

The Asians were motivated to tie the game and their passion was evident. Despite hitting only the post from their first attack, their hopes were finally answered a while later. The deflection from the air by Rinefalk started absolute madness in the arena as he made it 1-3. It took three and a half minutes and the Poles had their three-goal lead back. Two minutes before the final horn, Sienko showed his beautiful slap shot and increased the lead to 5-1 and the last goal of the match was scored by Pawat Thaidit from Thailand just five seconds before the end. It was so nice to see so many delighted faces on both sides.
